A Passion For SEO Search Engine Optimization - SEM Search Engine Marketing

SEO Search Engine Optimization  - SEM Search Engine Marketing

The Pen is Mightier than the Sword.

or today’s version:

The Keyboard is Mightier than a Stealth Bomber!

As someone who is constantly involved with Search Engine Marketing (SEO) techniques on a day to day basis. I am constantly in awe of the power we have at our fingertips using a keyboard and an internet connection.

We are all selling (telling) something:

  • Beliefs
  • Ideas
  • Our services
  • Our products
  • Our company
  • Our philosophy
  • Some their souls!

Yes we all have something to sell to someone. whether we admit it or not.

We have today one of the most powerful communication/sales tools that has ever been. The last one would have been TV. TV is a “broadcasting” tool. The “powerful few” broadcasting their message to the masses.

Today’s Internet is a “narrow casting” tool.

We as individuals are able to broadly or narrowly cast our message to all or just to the one who chooses to hear it. That is absolutely phenomenal in itself.

I am fascinated with Google.

There are two ways to get your message out using Google.

  1. We have the natural, organic search engine which “at the moment” is free. You write a page and if your page can carry enough influence with Google’s search engine indexing algorithm by way of a quality score you will appear somewhere in Google search results for your target keyword phrase. Ideally near the top of page one.
  2. The second way of getting your message out on Google is through Google Adwords. Here you bid dollars for each keyword phrase and the winning bid will get to display a pre-written ad somewhere on the search results page. The higher your bid, the higher your position. The search page results look very similar although the adwords ad will say sponsored results somewhere near your ad. I see that more and more the sponsored ads are taking more positions above the natural search results which leads me to think that soon adwords ads will dominate the search results page.

Google Ad words is fascinating for several reasons.

Fascinating to Google as they have just topped $5.37 billion for the quarter ended June 30th 2008.

Fascinating to myself as a marketer because of the flexibility and power of getting our sales message out in a highly targeted way. Highly targeted means less wasted $ on un-targeted advertising. And the ability to deliver a sales message to the masses for a range of broad keywords to the whole world 24 hours a day. Or potentially to a bunch of people within a certain postcode who search on a “precise” keyword phrase within a certain time period.

Example: We can set an ad to display to anyone between the hours of 11pm and 12pm in zip code: 20500 that searches for the exact phrase [bailout plans] and only those people in that place at that time will see our ad.

That is phenomenal power and flexibility.

As I discover new information, news, techniques, training, software and other tools that I find essential to my own day to day marketing campaigns. I will add posts and product reviews that I believe will help develop and improve your own marketing skills and “weaponry”.

If you have a business that you want to in some way expand then you “MUST” take advantage of being found on Google’s front page for your keyword phrases. If you do not then you can bet your competition will.

Now there are two ways to go: Either put in a lot of time to study how the whole system works, and it is totally fascinating if you have the time. The best training I have found to date can be found by clicking here: Hidden Clickbank Secret Manipulates Google For $526,422 I suggest you take on the program and lock your self away with a PC for a few weeks and you will then have enough knowledge to research, create, launch, optimize and maintain your own campaigns.

Or you could hire a professional.

If you choose the second option here’s how we can help.

If you have an existing Adwords Campaign running we can:

  • Reduce your overall cost-per-click (cpc) by as much as 40%
  • Improve the click through rate of your campaigns
  • Monitor and reduce the risk of click fraud
  • Improve the conversion rate of you landing pages
  • We can determine which keywords your competitors are using.
  • We can determine which are your competitors most successful ads
  • We can position you campaign to shadow and out perform your competitors campaigns.

For a completely new campaign we can start from scratch:

  • Initial research and planning of the campaign.
  • Competitor and market analysis: (determine what are your relevant target keywords)
  • Google Adwords account creation or transition.
  • Setting up of Google Analytics tracking scripts.
  • Creation of the pay per click ad campaign.
  • Setting up of effective keyword match types
  • Creative copy writing a minimum of two ads for each keyword phrase.
  • Recommendations of cost reductions for the campaign.
  • Creation and deployment of bid rules for each campaign

At this stage the campaign is ready for launch and further management is required as follows:

  • Daily bid adjustments to ensure that ads are showing in the most prominent places (positions 3 to 8 ) on Google’s first page at the lowest cost per click.
  • Optimization of ads so as to ensure highest possible click through rate and lowest cost per click and so lowering total ad spend.
  • Tweaks to landing pages to raise quality score of keywords and ads to gain the lowest cost per click and so lowering total ad spend.
  • Deletion of non producing keyword phrases.
  • Compiling monthly reports.

Moving on

Once we have determined your profitable keyword phrases we can then “scale” your campaigns by moving our marketing efforts onto the organic search results. As we do not pay for the clicks on the organic search we will work to achieve a number one position here on Google’s first page. We have many methods, tactics and strategies to achieve this.

If you would like us to take a look at your website marketing needs we will reply as soon as possible with our recommendations and best next moves.

How much will it cost?

As all of our clients have very different marketing needs in very different niche areas some of which are in highly competitive areas. You will understand that to give a fixed price at this stage would not really help either of us.

But what I will say is that we are very different to most companies offering this type of service.

Most companies have a conflict of interest here. They will charge a percentage of your ad spend. So the more money you give to Google the more money they make. Will they be motivated to lower your ad spend? If anything they will be motivated to raise it.

We charge an affordable monthly pay per click management fee which is not tied to your monthly spend. We do not profit like many of our competitors do from ramping up your monthly expenditure. We do not have a conflict of interests here. Our objectives are to obtain the lowest costs on your total ad spend and not to drive it up to increase our own revenue. This is were many companies drop the ball and this is exactly where we have caught it. It makes no difference at all to our costs if you are are spending $1,000 or $30,000 per month on ad clicks. Google adwords ad costs has no bearing at all on the amount of work we do for our clients Adwords Campaigns.

We do not charge a percentage of your ad costs.

We have a system in place that enables us to calculate our costs purely based on the amount of work involved, the number of keywords in your campaigns and the level of competition we are going to beat :-)

Obviously writing creative ads and sales copy has a higher value in the more competitive areas of marketing simply because a lot more creative thought is required.
